Steve, Do you know if there is any effort to remove some of the arcane data speed restrictions on the VHF and UHF bands ? This is not a circle that I travel in. Thanks for any light you may be able to shed

John - I am not aware of any current such effort. The last action I'm aware of is this ARRL article from 2019 https://www.arrl.org/news/arrl-renews-request-for-fcc-to-replace-symbol-rate-with-bandwidth-limit, and that's regarding symbol rate limits on HF... nothing about the even more arcane symbol rate limits on US 50 MHz through 450 MHz bands. I recall reading plaints in minutes of ARRL Board and other meetings, but only that - plaints, with no substance, no follow-through, no formal contact with the FCC, etc.

If you were to hear from any other hams that have this complaint, or perhaps raise this in a copy of zero retries, I think this is an issue that every HAM that is interested in data communications could get behind. I would really appreciate any assistance or support that you could provide.

John - As you'll read in Zero Retries 0046 on 2022-05-13 (and previous issues), the Symbol Rate silliness of the US Amateur Radio regulations in the 2020s IS a major point of concern in keeping Amateur Radio relevant. In my opinion, having to work around the Symbol Rate silliness is an impediment to advancing Amateur Radio data communications in the US. Thus, consider the issue raised!

Thanks Steve, Please let me know as a concerned HAM if there is anything that I can do to forward the agenda for this item.
