Zero Retries Guide to Interesting Technical Newsletters / Blogs / Magazines

Writing in text is rare these days, so we “explainers in text” have to help promote each other.

To be listed here, the (admittedly subjective) criteria are:

  • Relating to Amateur Radio or a subject area adjacent to Amateur Radio,

  • Written with an “sharing out to an audience” perspective (not just an individual reporting out their activities),

  • Generally, technical, in nature,

  • Regularly published,

  • Reasonable amount of the total content is publicly available (IE, not behind a paywall).

Popular Electronics Magazine Archive(s)

World Radio History - https://www.worldradiohistory.com/Popular-Electronics-Guide.htm

Internet Archive - https://archive.org/details/popular-electronics?sort=-date

ZRI: Though long out of print, Popular Electronics was a “hobbyist” (as opposed to “engineering”) perspective of electronics. The articles were highly readable (well-edited) and often serialized across multiple issues. The World Radio History version is a complete set of issues in its various re-titlings and mergers with other magazines. All issues can be downloaded as searchable PDF files.
